Mini Bells – 2yrs – 3yrs

This class combines yoga, games, songs, stories & Makaton (sign language) to help children to progress towards age related developments in the Prime areas in the early years curriculum.

This is a creative and fun class in which the children are encouraged to develop skills in Communication & Language, Physical Development & Personal, Social & Emotional Development in a creative way. Parents stay and learn too.

“Adults often think they (children) are like butterflies flitting from area to area… However when integrated learning is taking place, another metaphor might be more appropriate; that of bees which gather nectar to integrate into something of significance.”
Anne Mead – Author of ‘Thinking Children’

This creative and fun approach will  help to promote the characteristics of learning through activities that are designed to encourage the developmental points in the prime areas (20 – 40 months*)

The Characteristics of Learning

The ways in which a child engages with other people and their environment underpins learning and development across a;; areas of learning and support the child in becoming an effective and motivated  learner.

Playing and exploring – engagement

Active learning – motivation

Creating and thinking critically – thinking

The prime areas

The prime areas begin to develop quickly in response to relationships and experiences, and run through and support all learning in other areas.

Personal, Social & Emotional Development

  • Making relationships
  • Self-confidence and self awareness
  • Managing feelings and behaviours

Physical Development

  • Moving & handling
  • Health & self-care

Communication & Language

  • Listening & attention
  • Understanding
  • Speaking

Please note children develop at their own rates, and in their own way. Children are born ready, able and eager to learn. They actively reach out to interact with people and the world around them. Developmental rates depends on opportunities to interact in positive relationships and enabling environments. Therefore the developmental statements and their order should not be taken as necessary steps for individual children or used as a checklist. The age/stage bands over lap because these are just suggestions of a typical range of development.
